Fall is truly here!

It's 45 degrees outside. BUR! This morning has been the coldest yet, which means Fall is here. Lets just say the cold weather and I are not friends. At least it means the holidays are near, which I am looking forward to. I dont see how my family in Iowa and Canada do it; they are used to blizzards and what not. Whew; I will survive!!!

Race for the Cure

I participated for the first time in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Oct 18th and it was a really cool experiance. I will definatly do it again. My company sponsored the race and was a big hit. Our tent was decked out and made to look like a mini salon, red carpet and all. We had Toni & Guy silver star balloons and every child wanted one to hold. The crowd lined up for complimentary fringe trims/cuts and make-up touch-ups. I had a great time and most importantly I did it for a very dear cause. I was saddened reading all the names, in memory of, and walking for MOM , that was on a lot of people’s signs and T-Shirts, but I was also uplifted by all the support and enthusiasm everyone has shown towards this event!

Thank you for your donation; I am close to hitting my goal. You can donate until November 15th.
There will be more pictures to follow.

Ronnie

Ronnie's Dr. finally Monday with the results of his CT Scan and said there were no signs that the cancer has spread, however he still needs to see an oncologist to monitor him & go through radiation because CT Scans do not rule out microscopic cells. Also for the next 2 years he'll have to have regular CT Scans & tumor marker tests.
As of this point, we are very thankful that the cancer has not spread and we think he is now cancer free.

Thanks to everyone who prayed for him and sent him positive vibes!

October 18th

This Saturday is the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. I am so looking forward to it. Unfortunatly, I havent had anyone sign up to walk with me, however there are a few people from my work participating. I have to be at Northpark Center at 6:30am and the race will probably be over around 10ish. Ronnie really wanted to participate, but walking for a long period of time probably isnt a good idea. He got me a yellow, Livestrong bracelet to wear for him. My mom also got me a really pretty pink ribbon pin to wear on my shirt that day. I got my kit in the mail last Saturday, which had my t-shirt in it and my race number. I will try to take pictures that day. Visit my site if you'd like...

My brother's fight part 3

We found out yesterday that Ronnie's tumor is malignant, he has Seminoma cancer. He will be starting chemo and radiation as soon as the family can find a way to pay for the CT scan and everything. Of all the cancers he has; they say its the easiest to cure with the highest survival rate. But, we all know thats just statistics. We need to pray harder than ever that it hasnt spread to his lymphnotes. He is very scared. Ronnie does not have insurance, so I am trying to figure out if there is a way to start a charity for him. He's had a lot of friends come forth and share ideas on how he can get this taken care of with the state and what not. Please share any ideas or experiances you may of had with handeling something like this financially. I want to thank everyone who has been there for Ronnie and offered advice, support and love. We appreciate it so much! I know Ronnie will get through this battle, it just may be a long, emotional battle, but he will see it through; there is no doubt in my mind. Please keep him and the family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much!!!!

My brother cont. part 2

Today was surgery for Ronnie. The tumor has been removed. Now to see if its Non-Seminoma (benign) or Seminoma (malignant) and pray that it doesn't or hasn't spread. If its Seminoma, Ronnie will have to go through chemo and radiation. We will know this Friday or Monday! Let's hope for the best! Thank you for your continued support!

Need your support

Dear Friends and Family,

I recently accepted the challenge to raise funds to support the Komen Dallas Race for the Cure® on Saturday, October 18, 2008 in the fight against breast cancer. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime and the more we raise, the more the Dallas County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure can give back to fund vital breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in our own community and support the national search for a cure. Please join me in the fight by pledging in support of my participation in the Race or contributing generously to Komen Dallas. Your tax-deductible contribution will fund innovative outreach and awareness programs for the underserved in Dallas County and national breast cancer research. It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. Any amount that you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.Thank you so much for your time and support in the fight against breast cancer! Every step counts!

My brother cont.

Tomorrow my brother goes into surgery. My mom and I will be there by his side. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. I know it will go well. We will find out hopefully in one week, whether the cancer has spread or not. Thank you!

My brothers fight

Okay, I am ready. Recently my big brother Ronnie found a mass on one of his testicals. He's been to several Doctors and has had several tests in the last 2 weeks and the only conclusion is it could be testicular cancer. With cancers and other problems in this area they just remove the infected testi. Unable to determine if he infact does have cancer or not they are going to do just that and remove it, biopsy and do blood tests. He is only 35 years old and he has been going through a lot in the past few months. He is waiting to work out the details with his surgeon now and surgery will be in the next couple days for sure; at least by the middle of next week. I will keep everyone posted. For now please keep Ronnie and the family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much for your concern and support.
